Annual Bluegrass (Poa annua) Battle

Poa annua seedhead

We have spotted our first Annual Bluegrass (Poa annua) seedhead of the season. What this indicates to us is it is time to apply a growth regulator to the greens and fairways. The growth regulator will suppress seed production which aids in reducing the annual bluegrass population.  Annual bluegrass is considered a weed on a golf green or fairway so we do everything we can to minimize its existence.  As a golfer you may notice an orange hue to the greens and fairways for the next 4-5 weeks.  Be assured the health of the green and fairway turf is not being compromised, it is just the effect of the regulator.
